Technology & Literature go hand in hand :)

Hello friends,

My new post is not a poem based on a broken heart 😀 but rather a thought that has just struck me through and I have tried my best to present the same for all of you.

I have read during my school days, rather while going through the pages of modern history that 'Science and Literature go hand in hand' , the statement appeared a bit confusing to me but it was today that I finally agreed to it 😃 Let me tell you Why? 😊

We will be running through a short comparison to explain this Why ?

The comparison is between the artistic work by the great William Shakespeare and the OSI Model. I see you people still confused, isn't ? 😲

Shakespeare wrote the famous poem the 'Seven Stages of Life' (Seven Ages of Man) and it was decades after that the International Standard of Organization developed the OSI (Open System Interconnection) Model with 7 layers to explain how raw data in form of bits is actually traversed and finally produced on the user screen.

Let me at first tabulate both side by side and then we will proceed learning about each phase/layer (Please have patience and do not scroll down to the end at once 😉)

So as we begin, do not feel bored even if you have never come across the OSI Model because CBSE anyhow has made this poem mandatory in its curriculum 😇

1st Layer : The physical layer refers to the Basic level of data transfer, dealing with data in its most generic form, technically in form of bits, dealing with all types of cables and wires and so is the case with an infant, quite new to the world and yes to OSI Model indeed 😛

2nd Layer : Taking you the next layer, the Data Link Layer. It does most of the work of Switching( i.e it starts the connection between two devices). At this layer the data is called Frame and it has the ability of error detection but no error correction is possible. Even a schoolboy is in the form of Switch driven between his personal life and school life, he makes mistakes and makes almost all of them during his school life but is unaware of its correction even though sometimes he knows that whatever he is doing is wrong 😁

3rd Layer : Now, here we are, on an important layer of Network where data is converted into Packets, yes the boy with the burden of books in the bag has been replaced with a lover with a rose in his hand (this is what I am 😉) The Network layers makes the transmission easy by assigning a unique address to each packet of data. Routing takes place in this very layer. Same goes with the schoolboy, the best networking of thoughts in form of packets takes place at this stage of life and each thought being unique in its own way 😎

4th Layer : The transport layer is the most responsible layer of this model. The data is converted into Segments and at this layer flow control is maintained along with the error correction with the help of different mechanism. A young man searching for job for the start of his career is burdened with lots of responsibilities. This is the age to not only make the mistakes but rather correct them in the best way out and see that there is proper balance in his life, smooth movement of his life segments is the de facto for his success in life 😉

5th Layer : Well friends, I do not want you to lose interest as we move towards a very important layer, the Session or the Port layer. This layer helps to start & terminate sessions between two communicating interfaces. Can we talk ? Yes we can/ Sorry we cant,best explains this layer. A middle aged man is like a Session layer between his family tries hard enough to establish good relations among his siblings and has the sole responsibility to see that he has the domain to start and end conversations for a better living (The ones who are married and are gifted with children might relate to themselves the Best) 😂

6th Layer : Wow, now I think you have everything ready with you to produce on the Judgement day and you must be preparing at the back because you know its the Show time. This is what the Presentation layer does, it makes the data presentable for the next layer by doing all such expansion and compression of data, everything needs to be ready and in a well to go state. A person having traversed through different responsibilities in life is now well experienced with all sort of good and bad situations to be shared with the future generation in the most presentable form before there is a final good bye 😊

7th Layer : Last but not the least, 'Death is immortal' and so is this layer. The Application layer is the real world scenario of communication with the end user, the layer which shows the truth, the fact and it is as clean and unbiased as a mirror. Dotage & Death, time to leave for heavenly abroad and present ourselves with all our deeds in front of Almighty. A direct communication with the Supreme 😍 

And this is how life goes on, isn't? Quite strange, I know, but that is true. So friends whether it is a bit or an infant, Life is what all you make out of it before you reach the final stage/layer. So its all unto You whether 'you make it or fake it'. Believe me it is the time when you start connecting the dots and make the Best out of it, before you are asked to bow down, leave this stage and end this journey for a new begging...
